It was a godsend at the time, as the staff was very supportive and the environment was safe and quite comfortable, and their support continues even now although I have since that time moved into a home of my own and am now re-entering the work force."

I can't say how much I appreciate the Haven. When I came from Lake County, I stayed with three different friends for about five weeks, till I had no place left to go. I knew there was a shelter in Sonoma, so I went there. Apparently God was looking out for me, because I got let in that day.

After a couple of weeks I got reckless and started drinking. When I realized I couldn't stop, I had blown my place to stay. I couldn't stop at 5 pm to return. I couldn't stop at 10 pm to return to the Haven. I figured I had lost my place to stay.

the next day I returned to the Haven at 5 pm to pick up my things. I talked to Lisa and told her what happened and she allowed me to stay. The next day I went to A.A. and have been going ever since. I have 6 months sober thanks to her and have found a whole new life.

While at the Haven I saw a few people come and go. Some I liked and some I was glad when they left.

The Haven was a place where I could bath daily, keep my clothes clean, eat a good meal every day. I learned new things to do and had a safe and happy environment to return to every night.

The Haven, Lisa, Marsha and Blair made an improvement in my life that I cannot thank them enough for.
