A Few Caring People

12/5/2020

Dear Friends of SOS,

It’s time to look ahead with hope in our hearts and exciting news for you all!

We had a terrific Giving Tuesday — it was really exciting to see all the nonprofits in the Valley share the good they do in our community. We got quite a few signups for the hygiene kit event put on by Simply the Basics (coming to you in January), and a donor matched $1,000 in gifts.

Over Thanksgiving, our amazing friends at Amano Studio Jewelry sent specially-selected complimentary jewelry to SOS donors as well.

We have a new case manager to work with our clients. Noah is from Sonoma Valley Community Health Center and started this week at the Sonoma Springs Community Hall. We are looking forward to the ways he will be able to help our homeless clients access resources and find shelter, especially during the winter months.

Already, we have had two more people approved for housing at Los Guilicos Village: a man who recently had surgery, and a woman who has underlying medical conditions and has been chronically without a home. Seven more SOS clients are on the waitlist at Los Guilicos and are hoping that spaces will open up for them.

We mentioned our Winter Wish List a couple of updates ago. Please click here to see our updated list. Your caring donations are making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in Sonoma and Sonoma Valley.

The words of anthropologist Margaret Mead could not be more true: “Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”

Thank you all for your generosity.

Gratefully,

Kathy King
