Current SOS services

  • Food has been central to SOS’ mission since our founding. We serve an average of 4,500 meals per month out of the Sonoma Springs Community Hall, where we operate from 9am-1pm Monday through Friday. Delicious, healthy meals are prepared by Chefs Dan Kahn and Dawn McIntosh and their kitchen crew, including more than 30 active volunteers. In 2021, SOS served more than 50,000 meals for the first time.

The Haven plays a central role in offering showers, laundry, and hygiene items to our clients. Open from 12pm-4pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, clients may use the showers, do their laundry, and get free t-shirts and socks whenever they are needed.

SOS offers on-site case management to individuals who need help booking health appointments, navigating housing options, and finding work.

If you need help, please leave us a message on our office phone at 707-939-6777.

SOS offers a safe place to park overnight for up to 10 vehicles. Participants are vetted by the SOS case manager and local security monitor the area overnight.

For clients in immediate financial need, SOS can occasionally offer funds to cover necessary expenses including car repair, clothing, and other existent needs. Rental Assistance, while not provided by SOS, is offered by La Luz and FISH.

In the case of sudden displacement, illness, or severe weather, SOS can provide vouchers for temporary emergency shelter.

SOS partners with Los Guilicos, Interfaith, COTS, to offer transitional and temporary housing for all clients who may need it. Los Guilicos is a tiny hut village located in Oakmont that offers wraparound services as well as individual spaces for those in need of housing.

Though SOS no longer accepts clothing donation due to storage limitations, we are lucky to partner with the Bon Marché who generously offer gift cards for clients who may not otherwise be able to purchase clothes. You must come to the Springs Hall in order to receive a voucher.

We also give 2 free bus passes a week to anyone who needs them and transportation vouchers for help to medical appointments, job interviews, and more.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, SOS partnered with the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center, Sonoma Valley Hospital, and Fox and Associates Home Health to offer walk-in vaccinations to hundreds of at-risk individuals in Sonoma Valley.

Jack Ding, Sonoma’s Mayor, volunteers his time as the owner of Unicom Tax Services to help clients file their yearly tax returns. In 2020 and 2021, he also helped clients get access to stimulus checks as they became available.

BeBe Davis has been providing free haircuts for our clients for more than 5 years. It is amazing how a haircut can really make someone’s day!
